Free Interpreting Service for GP Patients in England
If you need help communicating during your GP appointment, a free interpreting service is available to you.
This service is for:
People who do not speak English well
People who are deaf
People who are deaf/blind
Children are not allowed to interpret for you during appointments or treatment.
Your GP practice will arrange the interpreter for you.
We will also add a Reasonable Adjustment flag to your patient record. This helps staff know that you need communication support for future appointments.
When to tell us you need an interpreter
Please let us know as soon as possible that you need an interpreter.
If you are booking a GP appointment, tell us at the time of booking.
If this is the first time, a friend or relative who speaks English can contact us for you.
