This week we’re proud to support Learning Disability Week, a national awareness week dedicated to highlighting the real life experiences of people with a learning disability, and what matters most to them, their families and carers. It’s an important reminder to listen, understand and include everyone in our communities.
🔹 What is it?
Learning Disability Week takes place annually during the third week of June. It’s a time to raise awareness about the challenges many people with a learning disability still face, as well as to celebrate their achievements and contributions to society.
🔹 Why it matters:
People with a learning disability can experience barriers in health, work, education and daily life, from misunderstanding or stigma to difficulties accessing services and support. Learning Disability Week encourages everyone to challenge these barriers, promote equality and ensure that people are seen, heard and valued.
💬 How you can help:
• Talk about and share information on learning disabilities.
• Celebrate the talents and strengths of people with a learning disability.
• Promote inclusive attitudes and reasonable adjustments in care and community life.
